People start to concern about skin care nowadays. However, it may take trial and error in the process to figure out what skin care treatments that suit your skin most. If you have normal and pretty adaptive skin, it is easier for you as you may able to use more of a variety of skin care products. However, you may be someone who needs to look for natural skin care products that include the least amount of chemically formulated ingredients if you have more sensitive skin.

After determine what skin care treatments you will use, you need to follow the skin care routine if you want a better skin care results. In fact, there are differences in ingredient absorption if you do not follow the correct skin care routine.

Below are the basic guidelines to follow in a skin care routine:

Daily Skin Care Routine

a) Cleansing

The first step in a skin care routine is skin cleansing. It is always recommended to cleanse twice, especially to those who have makeup on their face. This is because perspiration, dust, grease, stale makeup, dirt and bacteria that are collected on your skin needed to be removed completely in the first cleanse.

Using cleansing lotion or cream and any eye makeup remover, gently apply the cream on your eyes, face and neck and massage it in circular and upward motion for around 2 minutes. Of course, you need to get rid of your eye made up first before the face cleansing. Then remove the cream with damp cotton wool, tissue or a small damp towel.

Now the turn of second cleanse with your cleanser. A good cleanser should be formulated to deep clean and will unclog your pores. If you feel your skin is too oily or too burden at the working environment with the dust and pollution throughout the day, you can add some exfoliation after the cleansing.

b) Toning

Many people do not understand the value of the toning after the cleansing. In fact, toning is very important in skin care routine in at least 2 aspects:

It closes pores and refines the skin, leaving a smooth clean texture which can hold foundation and powder much longer.

A good toner will balance up your skin PH to your original skin PH (around 5.5), which increase the ingredient absorption in the subsequent moisturizing step.

It is recommended to apply toner with a simple spray bottle rather than applying with a cotton swab. This is because cotton swabs are sometimes harsh on the skin and can cause irritation to some people. In addition, you are probably waste your toner if you use cotton swabs as most of the toner will be left unused at the cotton swabs.

c) Moisturizing

Moisturizing is an essential part in the skin care routine. Dirt, dust, hot and cold weather, cosmetics and even sunlight all tend to dry out the skin, not counted the dehydration process occur at night time when we sleep. This is why we need to use quality mositurizer in our skin care treatments as it replenish nourishment to our skin after the toning.

Besides facial moisturizer, do not forget to get an eye gel too. If you have eye bags, dark circles under eyes or fine lines, use moisturizer specially formulated to reduce the signs of aging around your eyes.

Weekly Skin Care Routine

Besides the daily skin care routine, there is also weekly skin care routine that we can follow.

a) Exfoliation

Exfoliation is always an important step before any facial mask or treatment to remove the dead skin cells. Normally, it is done after the cleansing. In fact, regular exfoliat is important for all skin types, approximately 1 time per week for dry skin and 2 to 3 imes for oily skin.

b) Facial Mask | Treatment

A facial mask or treatment is the quickest way of cleaning, reviving and refining faded skin, leaving the skin light, soft and glowing. Normally, people use a facial mask once to twice a week, depending on the range of skin care treatments you use. There are some people that use hydration mask every night too, and some use two different mask products at the same treatment. It is all up to you and your skin concern.

In fact, a facial mask or treatment once every week will ensure youthful and fresh skin. You can always enjoy skin care treatments at any beauty salon. If you do not have much time, you can also pamper yourself a facial treatment at home, with different mask products or the easiest, with the galvanic spa system. Galvanic spa system can give you immediate results in just few minutes times, and is so easy to use. After all, do not forget to cleanse, tone and put moisturizer after your skin care treatments with mask products.

Besides understand well skin care routine, it is also important to use a skin care system in the same product line for better skin care results. This is because each of the item of the skin care products has been formulated to work together as a range. Apart from that, understand more skin care tips also will help you to keep a glory healthy skin you dream of. Remember, if you dedicate time to your skin, you will no doubt to see the benefits on your face as you age.

Generally, the easiest way to find out your skin type is to wait for an hour after you cleanse your face and use a clean tissue wiping your forehead, nose, cheeks and chin. If the tissue shows oily residue from all these areas, you have oily skin; if it picks up oil only from the forehead and nose (T-zone), or chin area (U-zone), you have combination skin type; if it shows dry, flaky skin, you have dry skin; and if you do not find oil or flakes, you have normal skin.

There are 5 different skin types, knowing as below:

1. Normal Skin
The skin has smooth and supple texture, with clear and radiant skin tone. Pores are slightly visible yet consistent in size. The person with this skin type are free of blemishes unless with periodic blemishes. The skin becomes oily only in the afternoon as it has healthy sebum production and balanced skin moisture. In fact, less than 20% of women have this skin type.

2. Oily Skin
The skin has rough skin texture and shining skin tone with oily appearance. People with this skin type have visible and enlarged pores, and most probably have clogged pores and blemishes. The skin becomes oily in an hour after cleansing due to imbalanced sebum production.

3. Dry Skin
The skin tone is dull and lack of radiance, and fine lines and dry lines around the eyes and mouth are easily seen from this skin type person. It has very fine pores size. However, the skin is unable to retain moisture causing skin to become dry, rough and flaky. The skin might become slightly oily only in the evening, if have.

4. Combination Skin
You have a combination skin type when you have 2 or more different skin types, or if your “T-zone” and “U-zone” don’t have the same skin condition. The extent to which both areas are dry and oily may vary; however, both areas require a separate cleaning routine to restore them to balance.

5. Sensitive Skin
You may also have sensitive skin besides the basic skin types. Although sensitive skin is often dry, any type of skin can be sensitive. This type of skin is usually thin, delicate, reacts quickly to hot and cold temperatures. In addition, it is easily subject to sun and wind burns and is prone to allergic reactions. Before use any product, it is always advised to test it on the inside of your wrist to see if your skin has any reaction to it. Remember, always choose mild cleansers and use a soft towel on sensitive skin.

No matter any of skin type you have, cleansing and moisturizing twice a day is an important part of having glowing healthy skin. Always choose skin care treatments and products that are designed for your particular skin type for maximum results.

1) Keep your Skin Hydrated and Moisturized

Hydration and moisturizing are very important for a beauty skin care as they provide your skin with the nourishment it needs for a healthy glow. The benefits of hydration and moisturizing include:

Provide a waterproof moisture barrier that minimizes the trans-epidermal water loss

Support the collagen and elastin structures

Protect the skin from the invasion of micro-organism, chemical irritants and allergens

Make the skin feel supple, elastic, luminous with a smooth appearance

2) Protect your Skin from Sunlight
The other important factor in keeping a healthy skin is to protect it against the harmful sunlight. Unprotected sun exposure may cause a lot of issues, including premature aging, skin rash, wrinkles, skin unevenness, dark pigmentation and skin cancers. So, do keep in mind to use skin care treatments which have sun protection along with your hat and sun glasses whenever you go out in the sun.

3) Increase the skin Anti-Oxidants Level
One of the effective ways to have healthy skin is defending the skin against free radicals, which means against aging. Free radicals are highly reactive, unstable molecules that cause damage to healthy cells. They are created inside our bodies through normal chemical reactions and external stressors. This will cause internal aging and visible signs of external aging. That is why we need to make use of antioxidants to fight against free radicals so that we can prevent skin damage and slow down the internal and external aging process. Some of the powerful antioxidants which good to maintain a healthy skin are alpha lipoic acid, vitamin C and E, carotenoids, colorless carotenoids and extra virgin olive oil.

4) Exfoliate your Skin Regularly
Exfoliate your skin regularly is an important step to maintain healthy skin as it maintains a healthy cell turnover. After exfoliation, your dead skin cells are moved away, leaving glowingly healthy skin in its place. In addition, it is easier for the skin to absorb moisturizers and other skin care treatments applied on your face.

If your skin complexion is from combination to oily, exfoliating 3 to 4 times a week is helping. For normal to dry skin, exfoliation should only be done maximum 1 to 2 times in a week. In fact, you should establish a skin care routine that includes exfoliation product, besides a cleaner, moisturizer and other skin care treatments.

5) Maintain a Balanced Hormone Secretion
Maintaining a balanced hormone secretion is very important for a healthy skin. Hormonal imbalance will lead to discoloration, pimple and acne skin. We can do nothing if the hormonal change due to pregnancy. However, we can avoid the hormonal imbalance by taking some supplements besides build up a good diet habit and healthy lifestyle in your daily lives.

Some tips on maintaining a healthy skin for:

20’ skin: Hydration, sun protection

30’ skin: Hydration, sun protection, antioxidants, exfoliation

40 plus skin: Hydration, sun protection, antioxidants, exfoliation, hormonal balance

Actually, it is simple to have healthy skin if you do take care of your skin. Understand the skin care basic knowledge before you jump into any skin care treatments.

The skin is our largest organ, a perfectly fitted, living and breathing suit to protect your internal organs from environmental insult. It needs moisturizing and protection to be healthy and youthful-looking. This is the main reason we use all sorts of skin care products.

Basically, our skin can be divided into 3 main sections: Epidermis, dermis and hypodermis. Knowing them will help you in choosing a good skin care products that suit you the most.

Epidermis

This is the body’s first defense system against harsh external elements

Skin care always works from here

Two of the most important skin tissue are stratum corneum (your skin surface) and stratum basale (the healthy living skin cells)

Stratum corneum: Consists of 50 – 100 layers of cells and it acts as a protective shield for the body. When it thickens, skin will looked rough.

Stratum basale: New cells start to reproduce from here. As time goes, new cells will move upwards to the skin’surface to replace dead skin

Dermis

Dermis provides structure and support to the skin

Contains collagen, elastin, hair follicles, sweat and oil glands

When we age, a decrease in collagen and elastin production in this layer will lead to the first wrinkle

So one of the skin care treatments we need to buy is focus on this part

Hypodermis

It functions as a cushion to insulate and absorb shock

Fat cells is a place to store nutrients and energy for a healthy skin

Knowing the skin structure is the first step towards a healthy skin. Of course, you can always make use of quality skin care products to maintain the good looking skin besides take care of your life style and build a well-balanced diet habit.
